Quick thoughts on an email newsletter that recently came in. (see the screen shot below for the numbers)
1) Quick Links & Menu Navigation -- Top right links tell you quickly what is in the issue. Standard navigation below the header provides links in a very usable way that also matches with the website look and feel.
2) Sweepstakes -- It's always nice to run a contest to generate clickthroughs and interest. And the prize doesn't even have to be as grand as this one here -- how about just a $50 gift card. And if you were to go to the site, you'd see that the sweepstakes allows them to capture full customer infomation for their marketing databse including birthday information - smart!
3) Great Photo! And again, it matches perfectly with their brand and target customer.
4) Content! This is great -- a summer grilling tip from the exec chef. It's both timely and relevant. A great thing to click through to. And then very well written and delivered on the website.
5) Calls to Action -- there's a lot going on in the email to garner clicks and action, but don't forget to give people specific ideas as you are closing your email as to what to do next.
Overall, a very nice example to emulate for your restaurant's next email newsletter issue.
