Running Your Business: The Two Most Important Words By Michael Attias
At Memphis State University I had a business communications professor that taught me the importance of two words more valuable than the undergraduate degree I spent five years getting. Those two words, "Thank You", have had the greatest impact on my life.
Have you received a handwritten thank you note in the last twelve months for any major or semi-major purchase? When I pose this question in seminars, few hands raise.
Although I've forgotten that professor's name, the lesson is a part of the way I operate personally and professionally. From cementing corporate catering relationships to insuring I get invited back skiing in Utah, a sincere thank you makes you stand out from the rest.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to personally write all of our catering clients a thank you note, I make sure our catering captains or my office supervisor takes the time to say it for me.
A friend of mine commented on how impressed her boyfriend was that I took the time to send a thank you note after we catered his company's party. I scored big points even though my assistant wrote the note.
In a world of high speed, don't have time to smell the roses hustle and bustle, a sincere thank you note lets your customers know the value you place on their patronage. The return on investment is immeasurable.
Thank You for investing your time to read this article!
